Facial corrections

Bring balance to your face
The nose plays a central role in facial harmony. When the shape or size of your nose feels out of proportion to the rest of your face, it can affect your appearance. Rhinoplasty (or rhinoplasty) can improve the shape, size and proportions of the nose so that your facial contours are balanced again.
Are you unhappy with the shape, size or angle of your nose? Do you find that your nose is crooked, too big or too small, or out of proportion to the rest of your face? Do you suffer from breathing problems due to irregularities in your nose? Or perhaps you have a nasal hump or a nasal tip that is droopy, too high or too wide? If so, rhinoplasty or nose surgery may be an appropriate solution for you.
At Duinbergen Clinic, we perform rhinoplasty with an eye for both aesthetics and functionality. When necessary, we also improve breathing through internal corrections in collaboration with an ORL doctor.
Types of nasal surgery
There are 3 groups of rhinoplasty:
- Aesthetic rhinoplasty
- Functional rhinoplasty
- Combination of the two
The treatment step by step
- 1. Personal consultation - During the consultation, we discuss your aesthetic needs and create a treatment plan. If functional treatment is required, you will visit Dr. Terryn for a consultation.
- 2. Anesthesia - Depending on the procedure, surgery takes place under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation.
- 3. Surgical correction - Incisions are placed invisibly on the inside of the nose; often a small incision is made on the outside at the base of the nose(open rhinoplasty).
- 4. Shaping and repair - Bone and cartilage structures are adjusted and skin is placed over the new shape. The nose is temporarily supported with a splint.
Variations of rhinoplasty
Depending on your complaints and wishes, the type of correction you need will be determined, which can be 1 of the following procedures or a combination of procedures:
- Nose bridge (hump) correction
- Nose tip correction
- Nasal septum surgery
- Straightening(s) the nose
- Reduction of the nose
- Nose wing correction
- Reduce olfactory organ
Rhinoplasty
A rhinoplasty is also called a rhinoplasty and takes place at AZ Zeno Hospital under general anesthesia, usually you stay overnight.
Usually the plastic surgeon and the ORL doctor work together to get the best possible result while making sure you can breathe well.
This team work is a great asset in this type of surgery.
What will be done and the realistic outcome of such a procedure are discussed in detail beforehand.
Recovery and results
Swelling and blue discoloration around the eyes are normal and usually subside within 1 to 2 weeks. The day after surgery, the wheeze is removed from the nose and you go home.
The splint is usually removed after a week along with the external sutures.
The final result is visible after several months, when the swelling is completely gone.
Aftercare tips:
- Do not blow your nose in the first few weeks
- Sleep with head slightly elevated for less swelling
- Avoid intense exercise for the first few weeks
- Avoid bumps or pressure on the nose
