Cosmetic surgery on the ear, or ear correction, is an aesthetic procedure that involves changing the size, position or proportions of the ear. The final result of an ear correction varies from person to person and depends on the changes desired. What ear surgery almost always brings about is an improvement in self-confidence, especially in children and teenagers. There are different ear corrections, such as auricle correction (also called floppy ear surgery) and earlobe correction.

Ear correction - Ear correction (flap ears surgery)
The auricle is an important part of one's appearance. They are often not noticed until it becomes apparent that the auricles are too large or have an abnormal position. For people with abnormal auricles, this often creates a great sense of insecurity. Children in particular can face unpleasant bullying at an early age. With the help of an auricle correction, the shape of the auricle can be corrected. We then change the shape and place the auricle closer to the head.
Do you have floppy ears and are considering the options of flap ear surgery? Correcting floppy ears is also called otoplasty in medical terms. We usually apply floppy ear correction through surgery as a standard procedure. But today, we can also treat floppy ears with less invasive ways. A flap ear correction can be applied from the moment the ears are fully grown. This is basically the case in children from the age of six.
Ear reduction
Ear reduction is also an option. We then remove part of the skin and cartilage to make your ears more proportionate to the rest of your head. Depending on your wishes, this procedure can be performed under local anesthesia or under general anesthesia.
Earlobe correction
Earlobe correction is also one of the options available at Duinbergen Clinic. Perhaps the holes in your earlobes have been torn out, for example because you wore heavy earrings in your ears. Even if your earlobes are too long or too large for some other reason, you can have an earlobe correction performed at our clinic. Using a minor procedure under local anesthesia, we restore them. After the passage of several months, it is possible to have new holes popped in again.
Ear correction at Duinbergen Clinic
An ear correction is a relatively minor procedure. Depending on the type of surgery you undergo and your wishes, we perform them under local or general anesthesia. Pictures are taken before the operation. Before surgery, the plastic surgeon draws the operation plan on the ear. For the auricle correction, an incision is made behind the ear during surgery. The cartilage is worked to obtain the correct shape and we secure it with internal sutures. Ear reduction surgery also requires an incision in the front of the ear and, of course, in the earlobe only. Our specialists strive to make the ears as even as possible, but ears are never completely symmetrical, even in people who do not need ear surgery.
