What is a liplift?
A lip elevator is a minor surgical procedure that shortens the distance between the nose and the upper lip. This brings out the red edge of the lip more, making the lip look fuller and more youthful - without injectables.
With age, the skin between the nose and lip becomes longer and thinner, causing the lip to curl inward, giving the face a tired or aged appearance. A lip elevator restores balance and creates a fresh, natural expression.
When to choose a liplift?
A lip elevator can be a great solution if you:
- finds that your upper lip seems too long or thin
- finds that lip fillers no longer give the desired effect
- want a permanent and natural result without overcorrection
- want a better relationship between nose, lips and chin
A lip elevator can also refine the face in younger patients with a naturally longer upper lip or little visible lip edge.
The intervention
- Anesthesia: local anesthesia
- Duration: ± 45 - 60 minutes
- Technique: through a small incision just below the edge of the nose, a narrow strip of skin is removed. The lip is subtly lifted and reattached. The scar falls into the natural fold under the nose and is barely visible after healing.
The procedure can be performed on its own or combined with other treatments, such as lipofilling, facelift or eyelid surgery.
Recovery and results
- After surgery: slight swelling or tightness around the lip for a few days
- Recovery: sutures removed after 5 - 7 days; resume work after 2 - 3 days
- Result: visible as soon as swelling subsides; final result after several weeks
- Scars: are placed in the nasal fold and fade almost completely within a few months
The effect is permanent and provides a subtle, natural rejuvenation of the face.
