Hyaluronic acid is a body's own substance that attracts and retains moisture, hydrating tissues from within and making them appear fuller. As we age, the natural level of hyaluronic acid in the skin decreases. This leads to loss of volume, wrinkles and reduced skin elasticity.

Applications of hyaluronic acid
Hyaluronic acid can be used in different ways, depending on the desired effect:

- 2. Contour enhancement - Subtle beautification of facial contours, such as defining the jawline or lifting the cheekbones.
- 3. Wrinkle softening - Filling in folds and fine lines, such as nose-lip folds, marionette lines or wrinkles around the mouth.
- 4. Improve skin quality - A very thin form of hyaluronic acid injected into the skin for increased hydration, elasticity and a fresh glow, without "bulking up."
The treatment with hyaluronic acid step by step
- 1. Personal consultation - We discuss your needs and analyze your facial structure and skin condition.
- 2. Preparation - A numbing cream may be used for extra comfort.
- 3. Precision injections - The hyaluronic acid is inserted with a fine needle or blunt cannula at strategic points.
- 4. Shape and balance - During treatment, we always check that the result looks natural and fits harmoniously with your face.
The treatment usually takes 20-30 minutes and you can resume your daily activities immediately afterwards.
What do we use?
- Smooth HA products are used under thin skin and in the lips to move along and not be visible. They also disappear faster.
- Firmer products are brought deep to the bone, can push away tissues more easily and give more volume, moreover, they stay longer.
- HarmoniCa is a filler where another substance is added that promotes skin firmness. This is how you combine plumping with skin improvement.
- Profhilo has the same components as a filler (hyaluronic acid) but does not fill. They are building materials that the skin can use in the renewal of the skin cells and therefore improve elasticity.
Results and aftercare
The result of the injections will be visible immediately after treatment. Some patients do experience slight swelling or minimal bruising in the area where the injection was administered. An ice pack or compress will help reduce the swelling. How long the swelling lasts also depends on what type of HA was used. In any case, most of the swelling, redness and bruising will have gone away after about one week. How long the desired results last depends largely on the type of fillers you have had. So discuss your needs and options for your situation carefully with the doctor beforehand, so you know what results you can reasonably expect. The final result can only be assessed after 2 to 4 weeks.
For best results and for your own comfort, please follow the following advice given by the company in its package insert:
- The effect of the treatment is immediately visible. However, the first few days the hyaluronic acid filler may attract some moisture
- Your skin especially needs rest now. Therefore, try to avoid contact with the treated areas as much as possible, including preferably not rubbing (to avoid driving the filler to unwanted areas)
- No exercise for at least 2 days after treatment
- Do not use makeup 12 to 24 hours after treatment
- Do not schedule dental visits for the first 2 weeks after treatment
- We do not recommend the following facial treatments for the first 2 weeks: peels, facial scrubs, microdermabrasion, laser and connective tissue massages
- For 2 weeks - after treatment - do not use tanning beds, sauna and/or steam baths and avoid extreme temperatures. Always apply a good UV protective cream on your face (minimum DPF 30) and wear a protective sun hat if necessary.
- If you wish to use painkillers, contact your doctor to determine the painkiller most appropriate for you.
Uneasy after treatment?
In case of fever, extreme swelling, pus formation and throbbing sensation, contact your attending physician immediately.
Consult your doctor immediately if you feel severe pain within 24 hours of treatment or if your skin becomes discolored (skin turns pale) around the injection site.
If the above side effects persist for more than 2 to 3 days or if you experience other symptoms after treatment, contact us.
