Doctor van Heijningen has been a plastic surgeon at the AZ ZENO (formerly O.L.V. Ter Linden Hospital) in Knokke-Heist since 2001 and in the following years played with the idea of opening a private clinic in a more anonymous location. People who go to a plastic surgeon for aesthetic reasons are not sick and feel less comfortable in a hospital.

He wanted patients to feel they could be completely themselves in a less crowded and smaller location. Duinbergen Avenue was not "haphazardly" chosen: its somewhat tucked-away location allows patient privacy to be maintained.

In 2006, the Duinbergen Clinic was a reality. Together with his wife, Dr. Mareels, Dr. van Heijningen is the driving force behind the Clinic. Over the years, the doctor has built up a loyal patient base, which continues to expand.

One of our biggest goals is to exceed patient expectations. We offer that little bit more by giving you the attention and care you deserve. We want to pamper you because you are unique as a patient but also as a person. We strive to restore your self-confidence and let you go home feeling good.

Safety

We meet the highest standards of accreditation and patient safety (see separate page). The entire clinic team works according to prescribed safety protocols, not because it is mandatory (there are no laws for private clinics in Belgium), but because we want the best for our patients.

Highest quality

We work with the best equipment, for example we have the real Coolsculpting device (non-surgical treatment to freeze fat), the latest LPG device (for lymphatic drainage) and an LED lamp as the ultimate complement to treatments. In addition, we use extremely high quality products, both used in medical treatments (e.g. muscle relaxing or plumping products 'fillers') and beauty treatments. We handpick the best customized products to take care of your skin!

Teamwork

You will immediately feel at home in a familiar and family environment. As a team we are well attuned to each other and we help each other where necessary. A receptionist and beautician are always ready to assist you with the customized (after)treatments. Duinbergen Clinic is unique in the fact that we can offer a total package to the patient.

Operation of Duinbergen Clinic

How does the first contact happen? People often have a threshold to cross and try to make their first contact in a 'safe' and anonymous way, often by e-mail. With a personal approach we try to give you a pleasant feeling from a distance so that you look forward to your first visit to our clinic.

On the phone, we will try to talk to you as best we can and find out exactly what you want, so we can convince you that you have made the right move and prepare you for your visit.

During the first visit, a number of documents need to be put in order according to GDPR legislation. After all, we guarantee the privacy protection of every patient! The patient will be personally brought to the doctor's office or the doctor will come and pick you up from the waiting room himself.
After a consultation or treatment, proper after-service will be provided.

Photos are taken and a MediSpa staff member is on standby for any aftercare. This can range from post-treatment lymphatic drainage, camouflage (makeup) to a personalized explanation in terms of additional treatments.

If you are coming for surgery, pre-operative care will be administered. Doctor Mareels will then accompany you from the waiting room to the operating room. After the procedure, you can recover in peace in the recovery room. Since 2019, we have our own Airbnb right next to the Clinic so that patients who come from a distance do not have to worry about transportation and accommodation.
